Sleishman Omega Series Rock Kit Ebony to Natural Fade Finish

This is the Sleishman Omega Series Rock Kit, which utilizes the Sleishman patented suspension system. The shells are made of 100 percent North American maple, which produces a rich fundamental note full of tone. The tom and bass drum shells consist of six-ply maple. Additionally, the bass drum has four-ply reinforcement hoops. Snare drum shells are made of ten-ply maple. This particular drum set has an ebony to natural (ebony fade) coloration coated with a clear glossy finish, which provides an attractive contrast to the heavy-duty chrome hardware.

To optimize the Omega Series sound and facilitate easier tuning, Sleishman has incorporated precise dual angle bearing edges in all the drums. These edges are cut to slightly reduce the shell diameter. This helps to produce a perfect circumference and truer tone.

The Sleishman suspension system uses no tuning lugs, bolts, or fittings attached to the shells, thereby making them truly free-floating. Freed of any restricting hardware, the shells are allowed to resonate without restraint, thus producing more sustain, increased volume, and a substantial amount of tone. Additionally, since this design keeps even tension between the top and bottom heads, tuning ease is greatly increased.

The Sleishman suspension system is basically a cage that sits outside the drum shell. The tuning rims are attached to the top and bottom of the cage, allowing the drumheads to sit on the ends of the shell. Only the heads touch the shell. Tension screws and tuning rods are connected to a suspension ring. When the top head is tuned, tension is also applied to the bottom head.

By applying the same tension to both heads, the drum produces a sound free of annoying overtones, thus producing a constant, pure note. This tuning sweet spot can be achieved at any tension level. If a pitch bend effect is desired, it can be achieved by loosening any of the tuning screws to obtain the desired sound.

An additional benefit of the Sleishman suspension system is that shells can easily be exchanged. For example, one can remove the maple shells and replace them with shells made of a different type of wood or acrylic. The shells are completely free-floating, so one has only to remove the top head, lift out the existing shell, and replace it with another shell of the same size. Once the head is replaced and the drum is tuned again, the result is a drum capable of producing a completely different sound.

An additional Sleishman innovation incorporated into the Omega Series is their Floor Tom Reso Springs. They consist of metal springs that are attached to the ends of the floor tom legs. This design lifts the tom off the floor and suspends it on springs. The result is a significant increase in tone and resonance from the floor tom.

All tom mounting hardware is attached to the drum's suspension ring, which provides a secure means of support and preserves the free-floating shell design. Rack toms can be attached to cymbal stands utilizing L-bracket hardware (not included). With this system, the bass drum is free of tom mounts.

Please Note: In the photograph of the full kit, the bass drum shows a mic hole in the head. The bass drum in this listing does not have a mic hole. Also, one of the rack toms has some very minor scratches in the finish in one area. The price was discounted accordingly.
