Schlagwerk Def Drum

Schlagwerk expanded its range of frame drums with the addition of the Def. Due to the innovative design and construction of the frame, the weight of the drum is noticeably reduced. This increases handling ease, and also results in a much more pronounced sustain. Additionally, Schlagwerk has included a grip hole in the frame to further increase handling and playing ease.

With natural goatskin heads, Schlagwerk's frame drums are remarkable in tonal range sound qualities. These drums reward the player with an exciting variety of sounds when played in the traditional manner. Striking the drums on the frame underscores the unbelievable dynamics of these instruments by producing high and singing tones.

Innovative design, high-quality construction, and exceptional tonal characteristics are the hallmarks of this def. Complementing the high-quality, natural goatskin head is a frame made from six glued layers of beech wood. The frame has a diameter of 40 cm (approx. 16") and a height of 70 mm. The head is fully tuneable with tuning screws integrated into the frame. These tuning screws allow the player to precisely tune the drum to his or her preferences.
