This is Schlagwerk's Cajon 2inOne Bass. The resonance box is made of seven layers of exotic gabon wood, and the playing surface consists of antique beech wood. Additionally, it has 84 snare spirals. This second generation of Bass Cajon also incorporates the 2inOne snare design. This means the snare effect can be removed by adjusting the snare spirals, making this cajon capable of producing entirely different sounds. It truly is two drums in one.
The Cajon 2inOne Bass is somewhat larger than the other cajones. This results in voluminous bass tones combined with an unexpectedly light and pleasant snare effect. Because of its acoustic power, it is also ideal for unplugged gigs. The resonance box has a natural finish that lets the beauty of the wood show through.
Schlagwerk's attention to detail, skilled craftsmanship, and innovation are reflected in all their products. Their cajones are no exception. For more than 20 years, Schlagwerk Percussion has been intensively developing the cajon, which has become one of the most popular rhythm instruments. In designing their cajones, they combined traditional Cuban and Peruvian construction forms with some ideas of their own.
The instruments that belong to the cajon family (cajones, cajintos, and yambus) enchant us with soft wooden playing surfaces and produce all the nuances of modern percussion sounds, ranging from high, assertive characteristics to voluminous bass sounds. The net result is a professional, unique, and versatile drum that can be used in many musical settings.
The Cajon 2inOne has achieved a revolutionary synthesis between a drum set and a hand percussion instrument. The addition of internal snare spirals that contact the interior of the playing surface enables the Cajon 2inOne to sound remarkably similar to a drum set, with the full bass and snare sounds. The snare spirals are extremely sensitive and the player is rewarded with a rich snare sound even at minimal volume. Basically, it is a drum set in a box but is much more portable.
There are several models of Cajon 2inOne, each with its own unique sound properties. Different combinations of wood are used in both the resonance box, and the playing surface. This gives each model of Cajon 2inOne the ability to produce a different range of sounds.
