The Schlagwerk Cajonito is a compact version of the famous Schlagwerk cajon drum. All aspects of the Schlagwerk sound and manufacturing quality are included here in a compact design. Small and sensational, it is unbelievable how many sound variations this little cajon alternative offers. The Cajonito is ideal for travelling and gives drummers and percussionists a compact drum that fits into a variety of musical settings.
The Cajonito has two playing surfaces making it both versatile and unique. One surface produces a crisp quinto sound ideal for improvisational play. The other side has snare coils installed allowing a player to produce real snare cajon sounds, not to mention an incredible amount of substance. It is basically two drums in one neat compact package. Additionally, the right finger technique can produce accented beats on the side frame. This versatile drum also includes a sound-hole, which allows the player to produce a wah-wah effect reminiscent of an udu.
The Cajonito is usually played between the legs or on a player's lap while seated. It can also be held under one arm. This position allows for the creation of interesting wah-wah effects when varying hand positions over the sound hole. The drum includes a muffling pad that helps to create a more powerful sound, and minimizes unwanted vibrations on the opposite playing surface.
The different acoustic possibilities of each side, incredible sensitivity, and responsiveness make the Cajonito capable of producing different and unique sounds. Additionally, the sides are covered with a special anti-slip coating for better handling. The natural finish on the resonance box lets the beauty of the wood show through, and attractively contrasts the black sides. The Cajonito's compact design, attractive appearance, and versatility of sound make it the ideal companion for jamming or sessions in the park. Basically, it can be taken anywhere.
Schlagwerk's attention to detail, skilled craftsmanship, and innovation are reflected in all their products. Their cajonitos are no exception. For more than 25 years, Schlagwerk Percussion has been intensively developing the cajon, which has become one of the most popular rhythm instruments. In designing their cajones, they combined traditional Cuban and Peruvian construction forms with some ideas of their own.
The instruments that belong to the cajon family (cajones, cajintos, and yambus) enchant us with soft wooden playing surfaces and produce all the nuances of modern percussion sounds, ranging from high, assertive characteristics to voluminous bass sounds. The net result is a professional, unique, and versatile drum that can be used in many musical settings. This is a drum any drummer or percussionist would greatly enjoy playing and owning.
