This is the Schlagwerk Heck Stick and Side Kick Set. The set consists of two incredible instruments that can be easily attached to the side of a cajon drum, thus offering the player a variety of percussive possibilities. These instruments can be used together as a joined set, or taken apart and used separately. They can also be mounted on either the right or left side of the cajon depending on the player's preference. The Heck Stick is a logical and sensible enhancement for the cajon. With the Heck Stick, the cajon becomes an ultra compact drum set, thereby making it a complete percussive unit. The Heck Stick consists of a special jingle stick with a mounting plate. It takes on the roll of the cymbals. The jingles can be actively adjusted between closed and open sound (similar to a HiHat).
The Heck Stick mounting plate is easily attached to either side of the cajon by means of Velcro strips. This allows the player to conveniently and quickly install or remove the instrument, or move it from one side to the other. The Heck Stick can be used with any cajon 45 cm to 50 cm in height (approx. 17.5 inches to 19.5 inches).
The Side Kick gives off an assertive click effect similar to the sound of castanets or claves. Typically, the Side Kick is attached to either side of the cajon and is played with the heel. However, a player can also position the Side Kick in front and play it like a bass drum pedal. The Side Kick fits nicely into the mounting plate of the Heck Stick, and its Velcro attachment allows the player to remove it easily for use as an independent instrument.
